1B Brad Eldred, who was leading the Class-A Carolina League with 21 HR and 77 RBI in 90 games with the Lynchburg Hillcats, has been promoted to Altoona and will make his Double-A debut for the Curve Wednesday night. The 6-foot-5, 274 pound power hitter was also among the league's leading hitters at Lynchburg with a .311 average. Eldred, the Pirates' 6th round pick in the 2002 June draft out of Florida International University in Miami, enjoyed a career game on April 16 @ Winston-Salem, going 4-for-5 with two home runs (including a grand slam) and a franchise-record 10 RBI.

In his first full professional season in 2003 with low Class-A Hickory, Eldred hit .250 with 28 HR and 80 RBI in 114 games for the Crawdads. In 2002 with short-season Williamsport, he was named to the New York-Penn League's Post-Season All-Star Team after hitting .283 with 10 HR and 48 RBI in 72 games for the Crosscutters in his pro debut.

The Curve will conclude its three-game series against Erie (Tigers) and the seven-game homestand with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch Wednesday night at Blair County Ballpark.
