
El Paso Locomotive to Play Detroit City FC in Nationally Televised Game on ESPN

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Locomotive FC (7-6-3, 24 pts., West-5) takes its first trip to Keyworth Stadium to play Detroit City FC (7-3-4, 25 pts., East-4) on Saturday, June 18. Kickoff is set for 10:00 a.m. MT and will make history as the first USL Championship regular season match to be broadcast live on ESPN.
Saturday morning's nationally televised clash between El Paso Locomotive FC and Detroit City will be a bout between the unstoppable force and the immoveable object. After 16 games, Locomotive leads the league alongside San Diego Loyal in goals with 30. Meanwhile, Detroit City has allowed only an average of one goal per game, making it one of the most secured goals in the Eastern Conference. Over recent weeks, El Paso Locomotive has been in a strong form, earning a 6W-1L-3D in its last 10 games. Detroit City has been dominating at home, posting a 5W-1L-2D record after seven games.
Most recently, Detroit City FC saw that home record earn its first blemish with a 2-0 loss against Sacramento Republic. In the West, Locomotive made club history by earning its first win over Phoenix Rising FC on the road behind a 1-0 score line. Entering the weekend, Locomotive and Detroit City sit in fifth and fourth in their respective conferences and are eager to earn three points on the national stage. Following it's 1-1 draw with Hartford Athletic, Locomotive is 5-1-2 in East vs West matches while Detroit City has fallen in both its matches against Western Conference foes.
The Saturday bout between El Paso Locomotive FC and Detroit City FC is set up to be an epic made for the national stage. Both teams will be looking to put their style of soccer on full display to come away with what could be a critical three points as we approach the halfway mark of the 2022 USL Championship season.
