APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY) - Eastern Kentucky University has come to an agreement with the Lexington Legends and Applebee's Park to play host for its annual rivalry game versus Georgetown College.

The EKU-Georgetown game will be played on April 3rd at 6 PM, with admission to baseball patrons being free of charge.

"A high-quality rivalry game is the perfect way to start baseball season at Applebee's Park," Legends GM Andy Shea said. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to host a free admission collegiate game to kickoff our spring!"

The Colonels' of Eastern Kentucky currently have a record of 9-8-1 (2-1 OVC) through the first 18 games of the 2008 season. Georgetown College, predicted to finish fourth in the Mid-South Conference in pre-season, is currently 13-11 on the year.

"We are excited about the opportunity to play at an outstanding facility like Applebee's Park," EKU Director of Athletics Mark Sandy said. "I know our student-athletes are excited and our fans will welcome the chance to see this year's Colonels compete in the minor league park where former EKU standouts Josh Anderson, Neil Sellers and Chris Clark played during their professional careers."

The Colonel pitching staff currently leads the OVC in opponent batting average (.232) and ERA (3.46). Junior All-American Christian Friedrich continues to shine in 2008. Friedrich, one of the top pitching prospects in the nation, is 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 41 in strikeouts in only 30.2 innings of work. He needs only five more strikeouts to become the school's all-time career leader.

"Obviously, we're very thankful to Alan Stein for giving us this opportunity," EKU head baseball coach Elvis Dominguez said. "Its a tremendous thrill not only for our players, but for people in the Richmond area to be able to come out and watch us play in such a beautiful ballpark."

The Colonels are led at the plate by Madison Central product Dylan McMaine. McMaine is currently batting .339 and, after blasting two this weekend against Austin Peay, three home runs. Sophomore Anthony Ottrando is also enjoying a stellar early part of the season at the plate, hitting .302 with 10 RBIs and seven runs scored.

The Legends will open the 2008 home schedule on Monday, April 7 against the Greenville Drive! To get tickets call the box office at 422-7867 or go to the website at lexingtonlegends.com.
