Eight-Run Second Inning Puts Rogues over Gems

KLAMATH FALLS, OR - After needing extra innings last night to secure the win, the Medford Rogues started scoring off early in game two against the Klamath Falls Gems. With eight runs crossing the plate in the second inning paired with outstanding pitching by Rogues' starter, A.J. Dean, the Rogues took game two and the series, 9-3.

The Rogues scored early, with eight runs in the second inning off of seven hits. Dan Mayer had a bases clearing triple to bring in three of the eight runs. Derron Davis and Tim Lichty also had RBIs in the second. The Gems were held scoreless until the seventh inning when two runs were plated, making it an 8-2 ballgame. Medford scored one more in the eighth, making the final score, 9-3 in favor of the Rogues.

Billy Fredrick had an outstanding night at the plate for Medford, going four-for-four with two runs and two RBIs, improving his season batting average to .316. Tim Lichty was also strong at the plate, with two hits in four at-bats, with two RBIs and scoring one run. Lichty's batting average now is .333.

A.J. Dean had a strong start on the mound for the Rogues. The right-hander went six innings, giving up five hits and no runs. He fanned 9 and walked two. Dean's ERA drops to 4.86. Dustin Hughes and Aaron Schwark also made appearances on the mound for Medford. Dean earned the win for the Rogues and Andrew Heideman got the loss for Klamath Falls.

The Medford Rogues and Klamath Falls Gems face off in game three tomorrow night at 6:35pm.
