
Eight IceHogs Recalled to Blackhawks

Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forwards Jimmy Hayes, Jeremy Morin, Brandon Pirri and Ben Smith, defensemen Adam Clendening, Shawn Lalonde and Steve Montador, and goaltender Henrik Karlsson from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Hayes, 23, has recorded three points (1G, 2A) in nine games with the Blackhawks this season and has 12 points (6G, 6A) in 40 career National Hockey League games with Chicago. The Boston, Mass., native posted career highs in points (45), goals (25) and assists (20) in 67 games this season with the IceHogs. Originally selected by Toronto in the second round, 60th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Hayes registered 14 multiple-point games, including his first-career hat trick and a career-high five points (3G, 2A) on March 9 at Oklahoma.
Morin, 22, has scored one goal in two games this season with Chicago and posted a career-high 58 points (30G, 28A) in 67 games with Rockford. The Auburn, N.Y., native shared fifth in the AHL in goals and ranked 15th in points. Morin was originally selected in the second round, 45th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and has recorded four points (3G, 1A) in 14 career NHL games with the Blackhawks.
Pirri, 22, captured the AHL's John B. Sollenberger Award as the league's leading scorer with 75 points (22G, 53A) in 76 games with Rockford this season. The Toronto, Ontario, native shared the AHL lead in assists and ended the season with 12 points (2G, 10A) in the last four games, including a career-high six-point effort (1G, 5A) on April 4 vs. Chicago. Pirri, who was originally chosen by Chicago in the second round (59th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, has notched two assists in six career NHL games with the Blackhawks.
Smith, 24, posted career highs in points (47), goals (27) and assists (20) in 54 games this season with Rockford, ranking second on the team in goals and fourth in points. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native shared the AHL lead with eight game-winning goals and posted a career-high four points (3G, 1A) on April 12 vs. Chicago. Chicago's sixth-round choice (169th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Smith has scored three goals in 19 regular-season games and three goals in seven Stanley Cup playoff contests with the Blackhawks.
Clendening, 20, ranked second among AHL defensemen with 46 points (9G, 37A) in 73 games during his first professional season with Rockford. He led all AHL defensemen in assists and shared the team lead with a plus-17 rating. The Niagara Falls, N.Y., native was Chicago's second-round choice (36th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and tallied 59 points (9G, 50A) in 77 games with the Boston University Terriers from 2010 to 2012.
Lalonde, 23, registered 23 points (5G, 18A) in 59 games this season with the IceHogs. The Ottawa, Ontario, native tied his career high in goals and ranked third among Rockford defensemen in points. Lalonde was originally chosen by the Blackhawks in the third round, 68th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Montador, 33, registered five points (2G, 3A) in 14 games this season with Rockford after making his season debut on March 15. The Vancouver, British Columbia, native has recorded 131 points (33G, 98A) in 571 career NHL games over 10 seasons with Calgary, Florida, Anaheim, Boston, Buffalo and Chicago. Montador, who was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Sabres on June 29, 2011, has eight points (3G, 5A) in 43 Stanley Cup playoff games with Calgary, Boston and Buffalo.
Karlsson, 29, posted an 11-5-0 record in 18 games this season with the IceHogs, after being acquired from Calgary on Jan. 21. He posted a 2.86 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage, and recorded a season-high four-game win streak from March 9 to March 22. The Tumba, Sweden, native appeared in 26 NHL games with Calgary from 2010 to 2012.
