Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- Manager Doc Edwards earned his 300th win with San Angelo Thursday night at Foster Field, as the Colts defeated the Edinburg Roadrunners 10-7. Edwards has a 300-247 record as the Colts' skipper.

Down 2-1 in the bottom of the third, the Colts scored three runs and never trailed again. With the bases loaded and nobody out, third baseman Jason Crosland was hit by a pitch to bring home the tying run. Left fielder Jamar Walton followed with a sacrifice fly that scored the go ahead run in shortstop Landon Camp.

Designated hitter Cory Patton scored the third run of the inning on an Edinburg error.

The Colts took a commanding 7-2 lead in the fifth with three more runs. Patton and catcher Josh Banda both homered in that inning. It was Patton's second homer of the year, and Banda's team-best fourth.

Edinburg mounted a late comeback, scoring four runs in the last two innings, but it fell short.

Colts' starter Mark Willinsky (2-1) gave up just three runs on eight hits and struck out four in six innings to earn the win. Closer Erik Draxton recorded the final out of the game to collect his fourth save.

Roadrunners' starter Dave Dinelli (1-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, on six hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The Colts and Roadrunners play game two of this four-game series Friday night at Foster Field. It is the Team Photo Giveaway Night, sponsored by RJ's Barbeque, and Runnels County Community Night. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a 2012 Colts team photo, courtesy of RJ's Barbeque. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
