Edinburg takes first game against Aviators

EDINBURG, Texas – The Aviators lost the opener of a two-game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners 9-2.

Edinburg scored four runs in the third inning giving them all the offense they would need. The Roadrunners scored first on Eric Gonzalez’s RBI single. Matt Spencer followed with a RBI triple. Spencer then scored on Eddie Lara’s ground out. Wilson Burwell added a RBI double in the inning making the score 4-0.

Edinburg scored three more runs in the fourth inning including a solo homerun from Eddie Fitzpatrick.

The Aviators didn’t get on the board until the eighth inning. Jack Joffrion and Carlos Figueroa both hit RBI singles making the score 7-2.

Eric Montoya (3-1) got the win for Edinburg pitching seven scoreless innings. Matthew Rohr (3-3) took the loss for the Aviators.

The Aviators finish the two-game series at Edinburg Thursday at 7:05. The Aviators are home again on Friday to begin a three-game series against Fort Worth at 7:05.
