Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

The Edinburg Coyotes looked like the walking wounded Tuesday night in Alexandia. With only 19 players on the road trip the Coyotes fell in the series opener 6-3 to the Alexandria Aces Tuesday night at Bringhurst Field.

Edinburg started out looking like the same old Coyotes scoring two runs in the second inning off of Aces started Santo Hernandez. Eddie Lara led off the inning with his fifth double of the season. Two batters later Eli Albertson reached second base after Aces centerfielder dropped a flyball putting two Coyotes on base with only one out. RBI singles from Garvi Arias and Evan Cherry made the score 2-0 Coyotes.

Alexandria made their night on big two-out hits. Aces left-fielder Trey Beamon plated two runs with a double in the third inning to tie the game at 2-2. He would promptly score on batter later on the RBI single from Josh Tranum. Alexandria led 3-2 after 3 innings.

Alexandria added to their lead in the fifth on a two-out two-run RBI double by Adam Bonner making the score 5-2 and the Aces would not look back.

Coyotes starter Bric Steed was effective, but failed to get big out when he needed them. Steed, (2-1) went seven innings allowing five earned runs and struck out only one batter. Santo Hernandez (4-0) was stellar for the Aces retiring 11 Coyote batters in a row and did not allow a hit in his final 5.2 innings of work.

Edinburg will try to even up the series on Wednesday morning at 10:35 AM. Andy Noonan starts for Edinburg and Donnie Bridges takes the ball for Alexandria.
