Las Vegas, NV, October 26, 2005 - The Las Vegas Gladiators, in partnership with News 3's "Operation: Football," awarded Eddie Wide of Cimarron-Memorial High School the Gladiators' Ironman Award for the eighth week of the 2005 high school football season.

Wide, a junior tailback and cornerback, rushed 11 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns, as the sixth-ranked Spartans shutout tenth-ranked Palo Verde 14-0 on Friday night. He scored on a 62-yard jaunt less than five minutes into the game to give Cimarron-Memorial a 7-0 lead and made it 14-0 on a similar 60-yard run midway through the third quarter.

Wide played mainly defensive back as a sophomore, but has emerged as one of the Valley's top running backs this season, gaining 926 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns.

Wide also excels off the field as he holds a 3.05 cumulative GPA.

This award recognizes student-athletes who have achieved both on the playing field and in the classroom. These achievements are reflective of the players in the AFL, where the majority of the athletes have skills as two-way performers.

Athletes are nominated for the award by their respective schools based on their weekly performance. Winners are recognized with a certificate presentation at their school with Gladiators' head coach Ron James and News 3 sports anchors Mitch Roberts or Rick Strasser. The presentation is featured on News 3 each week.

The Gladiators fourth season at the Thomas & Mack Center kicks off in 2006. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Gladiators office at 702-731-4977 or logging onto www.lvgladiators.com.
