East Division Champs Beasts of the East Collide this Weekend

March 14, 2024 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Saskatchewan Rush News Release

The Saskatoon Blades are champions of the East Division for the first time since the 2012-13, and atop the Eastern Conference for the second time in franchise history!

Goalie Austin Elliott's 18-save shutout and Egor Sidorov's fifth hat-trick of the year in Tuesday's 4-0 win against the Brandon Wheat Kings helped the Bridge City Bunch capture their 11th East Division banner in franchise history.

With five games remaining on the schedule, the magic number for the Blades to win the Scotty Munro Trophy for best regular season team in the league is seven (either points earned by the Blades or points lost by the Portland Winterhawks). If the Blades claim top spot in the WHL, it will be the seventh time in their history. Saskatoon can also reach 50 wins in a season for the first time since the 2010-11 team that went 56-13-1-2.

BEASTS OF THE EAST!

The top two teams in the Eastern Conference go head-to-head Friday at SaskTel Centre.

Don't miss Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Brayden Yager and the Moose Jaw Warriors in town take on Anaheim Ducks draft pick Egor Sidorov and your Blades!

Both teams meet again Saturday night for a rematch at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
