San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes have signed midfielder Shea Salinas to a new multi-year contract. Since the start of the 2012 season, Salinas has tallied 31 assists, 13 more than any other Earthquakes player over that time period.
"I'm excited to continue my career with San Jose," said Salinas. "I have loved living here and playing for the Earthquakes so I'm excited to remain with the club into the foreseeable future."
Salinas, 29, has tallied 12 goals and 39 assists in 216 games (139 starts) during his nine-year MLS career. He has spent seven seasons with the Earthquakes, including each of the last five. Salinas recorded seven assists during the club's 2012 Supporters' Shield campaign, tied for second most on the team, and scored a career-best three goals in 2015.
"Shea has had a good career here and we're happy to extend his time," said Earthquakes head coach Dominic Kinnear. "He is an important part of the team and his new contract is thoroughly deserved."
Among all players in Earthquakes history, Salinas ranks third in games played (173) and assists (36), tied for third in game-winning assists (10), and second in corner kicks taken (303). He has appeared in 68 consecutive games dating back to July 2014, the longest active streak by an Earthquakes player.
