Earthquakes Midfielder Shea Salinas Selected In 2009 MLS Expansion Draft

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that midfielder Shea Salinas was selected in the Major League Soccer Expansion Draft by the Philadelphia Union.

Salinas was originally selected in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the Earthquakes and played in 46 matches for San Jose the past two seasons. He scored two goals and notched five assists with the Quakes.

"Obviously we are disappointed to lose Shea," said Earthquakes general manager of soccer operations John Doyle, "He was an important part of our team over the last two years and we wish him the best in Philadelphia."
