CHICAGO, IL (November 25, 2009) - The Philadelphia Union today selected Chicago Fire defender David Myrie in the 2009 Major League Soccer Expansion Draft. Philadelphia selected one player each from 10 of the 15 other MLS teams. Each of the 15 teams was allowed to protect 11 players, leaving all others unprotected and available for selection by Philadelphia.

Chicago Fire Soccer signed defender Dave Myrie on Sept. 15, 2009 as a senior international. Through his three months with the Fire, the Costa Rican international did not see playing time for the Fire, but was named to the 18-man roster for matches against Toronto FC and the Los Angeles Galaxy. Myrie joined the Fire after playing for Deportiva Alajuelense and Puntarenas of Costa Rica for one season each. Prior to his professional career in Costa Rica, Myrie spent two seasons in Spain with Cadiz of the Spanish third division. The Costa Rican international competed for his country in the 2007 Under-20 World Cup and at the 2005 Under-17 World Cup.
