HARLINGEN, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley White Wings scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to propel them over the Edinburg Roadrunners by a score of 4-2 on Monday night at Harlingen Field.
The White Wings got the board first in the second inning when Johnny Bowden hit an RBI single.
The White Wings added a pair of runs in the fourth inning when Aaron Gates scored on a passed ball to make 2-0 in favor of Rio Grande Valley. The White Wings added the second run Ryde Rodriguez scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
The Roadrunners would get on the board in the seventh inning when Chris Christopolous hit his first homerun of the season to cut the deficit at 3-1.
The White Wings added a run in the same frame when Albert Carpen hit an RBI single to regain the three run lead.
The Roadrunners added a run in the eighth inning on a balk, which allowed Austin Fraker to score.
Kyle Wilson (1-1) took the loss going five innings allowing three runs and striking out five hitters.
Ray Hanson (2-2) earned the win for the White Wings going seven innings and striking out 10 hitters.
Kyle Wahl earned his fifth save of the season throwing a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the win.
The Roadrunners will play game two of the four game series in Harlingen, Texas to take on the Rio Grande Valley White Wings with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm at Harlingen Field.
The next home game for the Roadrunners will be on Friday, June 14 as they will host the RGV White Wings and it will be RGV CALA Thunder sticks Night where the first 1,000 fans thru the gates will receive a pair.
