Fort Worth Cats News Release
Despite out hitting the Aces, the Fort Worth Cats couldn't muster enough runs and fell in Alexandria 7-3 Monday night.
Alexandria (9-8) began the scoring in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Derrick Pyles, and the Aces subsequently scored in every inning after that other than the seventh.
The Fort Worth Cats (10-7) put baserunners on all evening long, but could not seem to find the extra hit to score men in scoring position. It took two walks with the bases loaded in the seventh for the Cats to finally cross the plate. However, a strikeout by Daniel Meeley ending the inning with a runner at every base.
Cats starter Aaron Wilkerson was given his first loss of the season after surrendering two runs in three and two-thirds innings of work.
Jeff Sakowski entered the game out of the bullpen for the first time and lasted two innings. He was on the disabled list previously and made a surprise entrance into the game.
The win was credited to Mike Loseke, who had his first start of the season and went scoreless in five full innings of work.
The Cats left a total of 18 men on base Monday night, which lead to the first losing streak of the season.
Fort Worth now sits just one game ahead of second-place Alexandria, with still three games remaining in this series. First pitch is Tuesday night at 7:05.
The Cats return home Friday night to begin a 12-game homestand. Tickets can be found at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
