Bradenton Marauders News Release

Fort Myers, Fla.--- The Marauders (24-14, 59-44) and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (16-23, 50-54) met for the second game of a six-game series at Hammond Stadium on a hot and humid Wednesday night in Lee County. The Mussels shelled out seven runs in the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 10-5 victory.

Marauders rehab starter Drake Fellows gave up four earned runs and three hits in an 0.1 IP and was handed his first loss of the season on the night.

The Mussels brought 12 men to the plate in the bottom of the first inning as they battered the Marauders for seven runs in the opening frame, with the frame being capped off by a three-run home run from Maddux Houghton off of Miguel Fulgencio to build a 7-0 lead for the home team.

Bradenton answered with a trio of runs in the second but was pegged back again when Fort Myers grabbed an unearned off of Owen Kellington in their half of the inning to make it 8-3 Mussels.

The Marauders got a run in each of the third and fourth innings to make it a three-run game. They would go on to put almost ten men in scoring position the rest of the game. Still, time and again, the Young Bucs could have converted on golden scoring chances throughout the rest of the game. Bradenton finished the night 3-16 at the plate with runners in scoring position and left a total of 14 men on base in the game.

Fort Myers plated a pair in the bottom of the ninth to put the game away and set down the Marauders' offense in order in the ninth to seal the emphatic 10-5 win for the Mighty Mussels.

Bradenton will look to bounce back on Thursday night, with the first pitch scheduled at 7:00.
