(South Bend-IN) The South Bend Silver Hawks slugged a pair of home runs on their way to defeating the Burlington Bees, 6-3, in game two of a three game series at Four Winds Field, on Thursday night.

Stephen McGee led off the second inning with a double to right field and would then move to third base on a wild pitch. With Tyler Palmer at the plate, a wild pitch allowed Stephen McGee to score, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.

In his first at bat of the season with the Silver Hawks, Fidel Pena clobbered a three run homer to right, putting South Bend on top 3-1.

After the Bees went down in order in the top half of the third, Chuck Taylor launched a solo home run to right, extending the Silver Hawks' lead to 4-1.

Fidel Pena would strike again, driving in his fourth run of the game, with a triple to right, scoring Michael Perez, extending the Silver Hawks' lead to 5-1. The next batter, Daniel Bowman, made it a 6-1 game in the fourth inning, with a single to center, scoring Fidel Pena.

The Bees cut the Silver Hawks' lead to 6-3 with two runs in the fifth inning. With runners on second and third, Angel Rosa lined a single to left, scoring Erick Salcedo. The next batter, Mike Fish, hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Kody Eaves, bringing the Bees to within three.

Angel Rosa and Mike Fish opened the top of the eighth inning with back-to-back singles and moved to second and third on a wild pitch. South Bend reliever, Nick Sarianides, went on to strike out the next two hitters and then got Tyler Palmer to foul out, stranding Rosa and Fish in scoring position.

Brent Jones (1-0) pitched five innings, allowing three runs and struck out six, earning the win. Bees' starter, Yency Almonte (2-1) was charged with the loss, while Silvino Brach (18) picked up the save.

The Burlington Bees (51-44) and the South Bend Silver hawks (57-38) wrap up their three game series on Friday at 6:35 PM Central Time. Clint Sharp makes the start for the Bees.
