Early Game Brings Early Changes

LUBBOCK, TX: November 8, 2005 - The Lubbock Cotton Kings made some game day roster moves this morning by signing free agent forward Mike Brolsma to a contract and placing rookie forward Justin Chwedoruk on the 14-Day Injured Reserve list.

Brolsma, 25, joins the Cotton Kings after opening his first professional season with the Tulsa Oilers. He appeared in three games with the Oilers this season and had no points with 6 shots and a +1 plus/minus rating. He turned pro this season after closing out a college career at NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. The 5'11" 175-pound Appleton, Wisconsin native was a two-time All-NCHA (Northern Collegiate Hockey Association) team member and led the NCHA in scoring last season after registering 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points in 26 games. His college career totals included 56 goals and 69 assists for 125 points in 112 games. The Appleton Union High alum began a junior career, prior to college, in the America West Hockey League (AWHL) with the Bismark Bobcats in 99/00 and contributed 35 points with 22 goals and 13 assists for 35 points in 54 games. Brolsma then split time during the 00/01 season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Des Moines Buccaneers and the North American Hockey League's (NAHL) Danville Wings, combining for three goals and six assists for nine points in 31 games.

Chwedoruk, a rookie forward from St. Albert, Alberta, has appeared in five games this season with the Cotton Kings and has an assist. He has not played since Friday night's contest in Tulsa. Lubbock will have Brolsma on their roster this morning as they host Odessa for their annual "Kids Day Game." The Cotton Kings are a perfect 4-0-0 in "Kids Day" games played in Lubbock. Lubbock and Odessa are tied for first place in the Southwest Division standings heading into the contest, so the game's winner will move in sole possession of first place in the young season.

The Cotton Kings season is underway and their next home game is at 11 AM this morning, as they welcome the Odessa Jackalopes inside the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.
