Bucks Sign New Backstop

LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks announced today that they have signed goalie Mike Dilorenzo to a contract. Dilorenzo played last season with the San Angelo Saints. Dilorenzo, 5'9" 185 pounds, was on the Saints roster during the regular season and for their first round playoff loss against the Bucks. He went 1-3-1 in five games played. He had a solid 2.79 goals per game average and posted a .895 save percentage. He beat Lubbock on January 23rd by posting 23 saves in a 4-0 shutout for his first pro victory. He did not see action in the playoffs.
"He has a great work ethic," Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski said. "Last year he was a backup for San Angelo and didn't get much of a chance to show what he could do. Mike really wanted to come here and show us he can perform. We are going to work him for a couple of days, then put him in the lineup and see what he can do."
The Waterford, New York native, played two seasons in the QMJHL with the Hull Olympiques and the Halifax Mooseheads. He posted a 10-13-5 career junior mark.
"I am happy to have a chance to come in and play," Dilorenzo said. "Coach contacted me and we were able to get something done that allowed me to join the Bucks."
The Bucks placed goalie Chad Davis on waivers to make room for Dilorenzo.
