
Early Errors Cost Wings

Edinburg-- The Edinburg Roadrunners (37-37) used strong pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (34-40) 3-1 Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball stadium.
The Roadrunners took advantage of a pair or Wings errors in the bottom of the first inning.
Travis Clark and Trevor Whyte scored on a pair of errors in the bottom if the first inning giving the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead.
RGV trimmed the lead with a RBI single from Haroki Itakura.
Itakura scored Buddy Elmore from third cutting the lead in half 2-1 in the top of the sixth.
Edinburg added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Jordan Etier sacrifice fly scoring Tim Battle from third making it 3-1 Edinburg.
Ryan Zimmerman (2-1) got the win pitching seven strong innings on six hits and one run.
Brian Smith (0-2) was charged with the tough luck loss going six innings on seven hits and three runs while fanning eight.
Game three is set for Friday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
