Glens Falls Dragons News Release

The Golden Eagles were bolstered by the addition of three new players on Saturday as Kyle Holder (Grossmont), Jesse Jenner (Grossmont), and Javoni Thomas (Walters State C.C.) helped the Eagles top the Utica Brewers 6-2.

I thought I pitched pretty well. It always feels good to get the win. Stated starter Matt Portland (Northwestern). Portland went six strong innings giving up just two runs while striking out 6. [Portland] was looking good; kept the ball down for the most part. Stated Jenner.

The Golden Eagles struck first with an RBI double down the right field line in the first off the bat of Garrett Degallier (Tacoma C.C.). After Utica got two in the second the Eagles answered right back.

I was just trying to do my job; get the ball in the outfield. Stated Holder on his two run double. Holder's double gave the Eagles the lead for good when his double scored Jenner and Manny Forcier (New Mexico JC).

The Eagles added another run in the inning when Josh Anderson (Florida International) singled home the forth run of the game.

Both teams were held off the scoreboard until the eighth when Degallier doubled home a pair to make it 6-2 Eagles. Matt Eckleman (Saint Louis) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning as he was pitching for the second day in a row.

The Golden Eagles hit the road to Albany tomorrow for a 5 o'clock start. They will be back in action at East Field on Monday as they play host to the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. Monday will be scouts night presented by Miller Mechanical, and the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.
