Eagles Sign Four Players to Try-Out Agreements

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames and Adirondack Flames of the AHL, announced Monday that they have signed four players to try-out agreements for the upcoming 2014-15 season. Forwards Chris Duszynski and Shawn Bates, along with goaltenders Kyle Rank and Tate Maris will all be participants in the Eagles training camp, which begins in October.

Duszynski comes to Colorado after spending four seasons at Norwich University, serving as the Cadets captain during his senior season. In total, the 6-foot, 185-pound forward compiled 42 goals and 44 assists in 113 games at the NCAA level, including a senior campaign that saw Duszynski register a career-high 18 goals in 29 games. The Okotoks, Alberta native would follow-up his collegiate career by appearing in four contests with the Brampton Beast during the 2014 CHL playoffs.

Bates spent the past four seasons at Merrimack College, posting 46 points in 104 contests, including 19 goals. Hailing from Vermillion, Alberta, Bates logged three seasons in the AJHL with the Bonnyville Pontiacs, amassing 58 goals and 79 assists in 152 games at the junior level.

Rank is coming off a stellar season, in which he was named the SPHL Goaltender of the Year and was a member of the SPHL All-Star Team, after posting a 1.88 GAA and a .939 save percentage in 33 games with the Peoria Rivermen and Fayetteville FireAntz. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound netminder has appeared in 70 total SPHL contests, including 23 appearances with the Knoxville Ice Bears. The Islip, New York native also spent four seasons at the NCAA level with Bentley University, playing in 62 total games with the Falcons.

Maris, hails from Denver, Colorado and was a 2007 graduate of Cherry Creek High School. He played high school hockey with Kent Denver, where he would be named to the All-State team as a senior. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound goaltender comes to the Eagles from the University of North Dakota where he appeared in one game during the 2012-13 season. In his four years in Grand Forks, Maris would be named to the WCHA All-Academic Team during each of those four seasons. During his junior career, Maris posted a 2.53 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 23 games with the Bozeman Ice Dogs of the Northern Pacific Hockey League. No stranger to Northern Colorado, Maris' father, Richard is a former basketball player at Colorado State University.
