Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL announced today that they have signed forward Gabe Gauthier (pronounced: go-CHE-yay). Gauthier was a part of the University of Denver's back-to-back NCAA championship teams (2004 & 2005), and went on to captain the Pioneers in his senior season before embarking on a professional career that has seen him play eight games in the National Hockey League and 274 in the American Hockey League.

In 328 pro games, the Torrance, Calif. native has recorded 189 points (59-130-189) and 380 penalty minutes. He was also an AHL All-Star in 2008 and was recognized as the "Most Sportsmanlike Player" in the BCHL Coastal Conference before attending DU. His goal in the 2004 NCAA championship game past Jimmy Howard (then University of Maine Black Bears, now Detroit Red Wings) was the difference in the Pioneer's 1-0 title-clinching victory.

In four seasons at DU, Gauthier registered 150 points (64-86-150) in 162 games, numbers that compare closely to his NCAA championship teammate, Kevin Ulanski, who tallied 110 points (33-77-110) in 149 contests. Ulanski has had a standout career with the Eagles, ranking 4th on the team's all-time points list (356 in 249 games) and earning CHL MVP and scoring champion honors in 2009-10 (109 points), while also garnering the ECHL's Sportsmanship Award last season.

The 2012-13 season starts in October (a complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com). Tickets for all Eagles home games will go on sale September 21 and can be purchased at www.ComcastTix.com, the Budweiser Events Center box office, or by calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or 970-686-SHOT (7468).
