Colorado Eagles Defenseman Sean Zimmerman

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Monday that they have re-signed Sean Zimmerman for the 2015-16 season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman registered 10 points and 116 penalty minutes in 63 games last season for the Eagles. A native of Denver, Colorado, Zimmerman was a 6th round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2005 and has played in nearly 300 AHL contests.
"I'm really excited," said Zimmerman. "To be able stay in Colorado is awesome for me and for my family and to be able to be a part of such a great organization and build on what we did last year is going to be incredible."
In total, Zimmerman has appeared in 274 games in the AHL, with stops in Syracuse, Providence, Rochester, San Antonio, Lowell and Albany. In addition, Zimmerman was also part of the 2007 United States National Team that captured the bronze medal at the World Junior Championship in Sweden. His major-junior career saw the blueliner notch 59 points and finish with a cumulative plus-minus rating of plus-17 in 270 games with the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL.
"Sean proved to be an integral part of our club last season, both as a proven and reliable defenseman and as a leader in the room and on the bench," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "He contributes a rare combination of veteran experience and talent, while also bringing a true heavyweight toughness night in and night out. We're excited to see him back for the upcoming season."
