WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they've reached an affiliation agreement with the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames for the upcoming 2014-15 hockey season. The Eagles will act as the ECHL affiliate for any player assigned to the league by the Flames organization.

"This agreement makes a great deal of sense from both a logistical standpoint and a personnel standpoint," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "Exploring a potential affiliation was something that we would only do if it was established and operated as an agreement that was mutually beneficial to both parties involved and the Calgary Flames presented us with exactly that type of an arrangement. The Flames are a first-class organization and they will provide us with the opportunity to develop some of the best young players in the ECHL, while at the same time enhancing our ability to achieve our ultimate goal of competing for a Kelly Cup Championship."

Brad Pascall, Assistant General Manager of the Calgary Flames added, "Colorado is a great organization and it will be a terrific place for our prospects to prosper and develop their skills. The Calgary Flames organization really stresses player development and the addition of Colorado will be a great compliment to our overall developmental process."

The Calgary Flames compete in the Pacific Division of the NHL's Western Conference and captured the Stanley Cup in 1989. The Adirondack Flames will serve as Calgary's AHL affiliate during the upcoming season.
