E.J. Burt named Defensive Player of the Month
March 28, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
Chicago Rush lineman E.J. Burt has been named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Month for his performance during March, the AFL announced today.
Burt recorded nine tackles, four sacks, four forced-fumbles and a pass broken up in Chicago's first four games this season. Two of his forced fumbles were recovered for touchdowns by the Rush - one each in victories over New York and Columbus.
"E.J.'s great start to the season and his overall production is no surprise to us," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We were fortunate to be able to convince him to play in Chicago, and now we are doing our part to help him fulfill his goal of winning a championship."
Signed as a free agent in the off-season, Burt leads the league in both sacks and forced fumbles. Just four games into his fifth AFL season, he already has recorded 32 career sacks, moving him into 11th place in AFL history. He also has added 20 forced-fumbles in his career.
