The Houston Dynamo takes on Real Salt Lake Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston. Houston Dynamo will be acknowledging a lucky father, winner of the "Greatest Dynamo Soccer Fan", a promotional contest ran over the past weeks, in conjunction with the Houston Chronicle.

WHO: Houston Dynamo vs. Real Salt Lake

WHEN: Match begins at 7:30 P.M, on Saturday, June 17, 2006.

WHERE: Robertson Stadium, University of Houston

"Greatest Dynamo Soccer Fan" to be recognized

Over the past few weeks, the Dynamo, in conjunction with the Houston Chronicle, ran a promotional contest for Father's Day. Hundreds of children from the greater Houston area submitted essays on why their dad is the "Greatest Dynamo Soccer Fan". After a review of the essays, one family was selected for a special father's Day grand prize package with the Dynamo. One young girl in particular won her Father a priceless gift: his dream come true. Tomorrow, Ron Vlaskamp will experience an unforgettable Major League Soccer moment as he and his Daughter Kelly get acknowledged at half time as the young girl reads on the field and abridged version of the winning essay.

NASA Astronaut to Make Ceremonial first kick

NASA Astronaut, Jose Hernandez, will make the ceremonial first kick at the June 17 Houston Dynamo game in recognition of more than 130 Houston students who have reached the goal of becoming one of NASA's 21st Century Explorers. Fifteen 21st Century Explorer Student Ambassadors, who helped kickoff the project, have also been invited.

NASA's 21st Century Explorer project is a bilingual program that aims to inspire and motivate 3rd- to 5th- grade students, especially in underrepresented and underserved populations (i.e. the Hispanic Community), toward interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The project's educational packages, as well as an after-school program, depict NASA's Vision for space exploration. The educational packages consist of a web explanation, glossary, quiz, book and web resources as well as educator and student sections of a hands-on activity, all following the National Education Standards.
