Wilson Tobs News Release

Wilson, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League on Monday announced that Wilson Tobs outfielder Dusty Baker has earned the Trackman Baseball Hitter of the Week honor for week one.

The second-year CPL player batted .778 in three games against the Peninsula Pilots. During his nine at-bats, Baker tallied two doubles and one triple while driving in five runs. He posted an .833 OBP and 1.222 SLG. Baker is the first Tobs player to receive a Player of the Week honor since Chris Kernen was named Pitcher of the Week for week three in 2018.

The senior from the University of Mount Olive was a finalist in the Coastal Plain League's Play of the Year vote online for his diving catch in 2019 with the Morehead City Marlins. This is Baker's first time receiving a Player of the Week honor. The left-handed hitter was a part of the Tobs relentless offense that began the season 7-0 (including exhibition games) that tallied six or more runs in five of seven games.

The Wilson Tobs continue their season starting on Tuesday against the Wake Forest Fungo. While Historic Fleming Stadium remains closed to the general public, all games will be streamed on CPLBaseball.tv. For more information visit wilsontobs.com or call (252) 251-8627.
