Dusters shock Yard Dawgz

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Amarillo Dusters defeated the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 59-56 at the Cox Convention Center Saturday night. The Yard Dawgz led by twenty points early in the fourth quarter but Amarillo scored twenty-three unanswered fourth quarter points to upset the #3 seed in the First Round of the 2005 af2 playoffs. Amarillo quarterback Julian Reese was named Offensive Player of the Game for his 19-of-228 for 263 yards and five touchdowns. He also added two rushing touchdowns on the night.

The Dawgz were trailing by ten points with :57 left in the first half but they would score thirty unanswered points late in the second quarter over into the third quarter to take a 49-29 lead with 5:40 left in the third quarter. Amarillo would get a touchdown at the end of the third quarter to make the score 49-36 at the end of the third quarter.

After an Al Hunt one-yard run giving the Dawgz a 56-36 lead, Amarillo would make their run and score the last 23 points of the ballgame to shock the Dawgz.

Al Hunt was named Ironman of the Game for his six catches for 61 yards and one touchdown as well as adding two rushing touchdowns on the night. Defensively, he added 8.5 tackles on the night. Jeromy Flowers was named ADT Defensive Player of the Game for his six tackles and one forced fumble.

The Yard Dawgz finish the season 10-7 and with the win the Dusters will advance and take on the Memphis Xplorers in the second round.
