Dust Devils Fall in Series Finale 3-2

Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils had their longest winning streak of the season, four games, snapped Sunday night in their 3-2 loss to the Spokane Indians. The Dust Devils struggled at the plate and a home run in the eighth inning was the only offense they could muster in front of a sold out crowd of 3,708 at Gesa Stadium.
Tri-City (10-7) starter Vianney Mayo (0-1) took his first loss of the season, going five innings and allowing only one run. He also allowed seven hits, struck out four and walked two. Dust Devils' reliever Ching-Lung Lo came in to relieve Mayo and allowed two runs on three hits in one inning.
Indians (9-8) starting pitcher Victor Payano (1-1) earned his first win of the season in impressive fashion, going six shutout innings and allowing just one hit. He also struck out nine Dust Devils on the night while walking just one. The Indians supplied Payano with some run support, but stranded several runners as they scored just three runs on 10 hits.
The Dust Devils' lineup, which had recently been crushing the ball, had their first off night in a while, getting just two hits on the night. Catcher Richard Pirkle supplied all the offense for Tri-City, getting both of their hits, including a towering two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the Dust Devils within one.
Tri-City will now head to Spokane for a three game series at Avista Stadium against the Indians. The Dust Devils went 4-2 in their latest home stand and are now tied for first place in the Northwest League East Division with the Boise Hawks at 10-7. Tri-City returns to Gesa Stadium on July 13 against the Eugene Emeralds.
