Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - Alex Dunlap recorded his first hit and RBI of the season the last time the Kingfish made the four-hour bus trip to Wisconsin Rapids. This time, he smashed his first home run, pushing the Kingfish to a 3-2 victory over the Rafters.

The Rafters got on the board first via a Brock Carpenter RBI single in the first. Jason Scholl tied it up in the sixth with an RBI double that scored Filia, and then scored himself on a Mitchell McGeein throwing error to give the Kingfish the lead. The Rafters re-tied the game in the seventh as Zach Domingues drew a bases loaded walk against Ryan Orr, but the tie was promptly broken by Alex Dunlap's solo home run in the eighth to put the Kingfish ahead the rest of the way.

Ryne Blanton took the mound for the Kingfish and had another solid, five-inning performance as he let up just one run. Shea Murray made his debut for the Kingfish throwing 1.1 IP and giving up 1 ER. Always reliable Ryan Orr took the helm for two innings, walking one and holding the Rafters to just two runs. J.D. Nielsen was called upon in the ninth to finish the Rafters off, and he obliged by striking out both batters he saw.

Alex Dunlap, Jason Scholl, and Brody Westmoreland each had two hit performances, with Scholl and Dunlap picking up RBIs. The Kingfish sprayed six hits while drawing six walks. The Kingfish lived by the operative concept of "just enough runs" by claiming a one run victory for the second consecutive night. The win marks the fourth straight for the Kingfish, and has them sitting atop the Northwoods League South Division second half standings. The Kingfish will travel to La Crosse for a date with the Loggers tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m.
