Dukes and McGill Earn All-Arena Honors
August 11, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm are pleased to announce that Cliff Dukes and Tim McGill have earned first-team All-Arena honors for the 2011 season. This is the third consecutive season McGill was named to the All-Arena team and second consecutive season for Dukes.
"This could not happen to two better players than Tim and Cliff," said head coach Dave Ewart. "They bring the same work ethic to the practice field every week as they bring to the games. These guys are the two best players in the league at what they do and I am thankful to be able to coach players like them."
For Dukes (6-foot-3, 280 lbs., Michigan State) this is his second honor this season by the AFL as he was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year yesterday. Last season he earned second-team All Arena honors after finishing tied third in the AFL with nine sacks. Over the course of the past two seasons Dukes has a league leading 21.5 sacks.
McGill (6-2, 345, Illinois) who was also a finalist for Defensive Lineman of the Year this season, earned All-Arena honors for the third consecutive season. In 2010 he earned first-team All-Arena honors and second-team in 2008. McGill was also a finalist for AFL Defensive Player of the year in 2008.
A disruptive force in the middle of the defensive line, McGill set a career high mark with 10 sacks this season while adding two forced fumbles and a blocked kick. He is the first player in AFL history from the nose guard position to record double digit sacks in a single-season. He has 14.5 sacks over the past two seasons, seventh most during that span.
