
Davila Named National Guard MVP of the Year

TULSA - Arizona Rattlers QB NICK DAVILA (6-3, 210, Cincinnati) has been named the 2011 National Guard MVP of the Year, the League Office announced today.
This is the first time the League has handed out the MVP award since 1995. He is the second player in Arizona franchise history to win MVP honors, the last time coming in 1993 with Hunkie Cooper.
In only his second season in the AFL, Davila showcased incredible accuracy and big play ability, leading the Rattlers to their best regular season in franchise history with a 16-2 record. Davila helped the Rattlers lead the League in turnover margin (+33) and finish second in scoring offense.
Davila led the League in pass efficiency (127.6) and ranked second in completion percentage (70.7) and pass completions (427). Davila's most incredible feat from 2011 was tossing an AFL record tying 117 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions. He also finished third in the League in passing yards with 4,916. Davila led the Rattlers to a 9-2 record in the National Conference and home field advantage throughout the 2011 postseason. This is the first time the Rattlers won their division since 2004. Davila is set to play in his first ArenaBowl on Friday, August 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Other candidates for the National Guard MVP award included: Jacksonville Sharks QB AARON GARCIA; New Orleans VooDoo WR/KR PJ BERRY; Chicago Rush WR/KR REGGIE GRAY; Orlando Predators DB RAYSHAUN KIZER; Chicago Rush DB VIC HALL; Georgia Force WR MAURICE PURIFY; Utah Blaze QB TOMMY GRADY.
All awards were determined through a coach and select media vote.
