Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The United States Hockey League ("USHL") and NHL Central Scouting announced Tuesday the list of players selected to compete at the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Chicago Steel forwards Walker Duehr and Brannon McManus were named to the 40-player list which will later be split into Team East and Team West rosters. Those selected were chosen by NHL and USHL general managers and scouts as 2017 NHL Draft-eligible USHL players to showcase their skills on the ice at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Duehr, 19, returns to his hometown of Sioux Falls for the Top Prospects Game. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound right wing is currently tied for the Steel lead with 11 goals on the season, while also adding seven assists. He was acquired by Chicago earlier this year in a trade with the Tri-City Storm, with whom he won a Clark Cup Championship in 2016. Duehr is committed to Minnesota State University, Mankato (WCHA).

McManus joined the Steel Nov. 30 via trade from the Omaha Lancers. The 17-year-old native of Huntington Beach, Calif., was named to NHL Central Scouting's Players to Watch List last month as a leading candidate for the 2017 NHL Draft. McManus is currently representing the United States at the 2016 World Junior A Challenge in Bonnyville, Alta., Canada. The 5-foot-9, 181-pound left wing has notched six goals and five assists this season and is committed to the University of Minnesota (Big Ten). He led September's CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game in Philadelphia with three (1G+2A) points.

The 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will also feature a pre-game skills competition. The past two Top Prospects Games - 2016 in Omaha, Neb., and 2015 in Dubuque, Iowa - featured near sellout crowds, and were featured in special programs on NHL Network.

Four members of the 2015-2016 Steel roster competed in the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, including 2016 NHL Draft picks Max Zimmer (CAR - 4th Rd., 104th overall) and Tanner Laczynski (PHI - 6th Rd., 169th overall). Chicago's current roster also features two goaltenders drafted by NHL teams: Ales Stezka (2015: MIN - 4th Rd., 111th overall) and Peter Thome (2016: CBJ - 6th Rd., 155th overall).

The Steel are back in action on Friday, Dec. 16 against the Bloomington Thunder. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Fox Valley Ice Arena. It's Secret Santa Night - fans will have the opportunity to meet Santa, and are encouraged to bring a gift (minimum $5 value) to exchange with fellow fans. For tickets or more information, call 855-51-STEEL, stop by the Box Office at Fox Valley Ice Arena or visit ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com.
