Three RoughRiders Named to USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game

Cedar Rapids, IA - A trio of Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have been named to the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects game being played Tuesday, January 10th in Sioux Falls, SD.

Forwards Marc McLaughlin and Robert Arrak along with defenseman Jakub Sirota were among the 40 players named to participate in the annual event. The event will begin Monday, January 9th with a luncheon featuring a keynote speaker followed by meet and greet opportunities later that evening. Monday will also feature on-ice and off-ice testing conducted by HockeyTech and NHL Central Scouting.

McLaughlin, from North Billericka, MA has one goal and three assists in 24 games this season for the RoughRiders. He is committed to Boston College. Arrak, from Tallinn, Estonia joined the team within the last several weeks. In seven contests, he has one goal and one assist. He is currently skating for Estonia in the IIHF U20 World Championship running through December 17th. Sirota, acquired in a trade just prior to the regular season from Des Moines is from Kromeriz, Czech Republic. He has one goal and two assists in 13 games for the RoughRiders, having been out with an injury for a few weeks this season. He is currently playing for his native Czech Republic in the World Junior A Challenge in Canada which runs through December 17th.

"We are happy for our players who got selected for the Prospects game," said RoughRiders Head Coach Mark Carlson. "It is a tremendous honor to play in the Top Prospects game. Playing with and being around players from the rest of the USHL will be a great experience for them."
