Trevor Shorter Named USHL Defenseman of the Week

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - Chicago Steel defenseman Trevor Shorter was named USHL Defenseman of the Week Monday following a strong performance in two games at the USHL Fall Classic at Blackhawks Ice Center presented by Fifth Third Bank.

Shorter notched the primary assist on the game-tying goal in the third period of Chicago's 4-3 victory over the Lincoln Stars on Friday, September 18. He followed up the performance with two assists in the club's 6-3 victory over the Omaha Lancers on Saturday, September 19.

An Elmhurst, IL native, Shorter recently committed to Notre Dame University. He appeared in 34 games for the Steel last season, notching five goals and adding two assists while providing a steady presence along Chicago's blue line.

The Steel will travel to Cedar Rapids for their first road game of the season on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:05 p.m. Chicago will return home for its inaugural Opening Night at USG Arena on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 pm against Green Bay. After the game, fans can hit the ice for the first Skate with the Steel this season.
