(Central Islip, N.Y.) - Long Island Ducks President/General Manager Michael Pfaff today has issued the following statement regarding Wally Backman:
"Based on information we were made aware of on August 30 and have discovered since, we had complete confidence that today's decision exonerating Wally Backman of these fraudulent charges would ultimately be the outcome of this case. We stood behind Wally because of our belief in his innocence and in every person's right to due process. Now that he has been found innocent, we hope the media coverage of Wally's exoneration will be as thorough as the coverage afforded the false accusations. We appreciate the support of Ducks fans and look forward to getting back on the field May 1 to start another great season of Ducks baseball."
