
Ducks sign C Ryan Getzlaf to amateur tryout contract

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cinicinnati Mighty Ducks general manager Chuck Fletcher announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed center Ryan Getzlaf from the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League (WHL) to an amateur tryout contract.
Getzlaf, 19, was selected by Anaheim in the first round (19th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 51 games this season, the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder had 29 goals and 25 assists with 102 penalty minutes and a plus-22 rating. The native of Regina, Saskatchewan appeared in 12 playoff games with Calgary, recording four goals and 13 assists with 18 penalty minutes.
Getzlaf will be available to make his professional debut tonight when the Ducks face the Milwaukee Admirals in Game Three of the best-of-seven West Division semifinals at 8:30 p.m. at the Bradley Center. The series is tied 1-1.
