Dubuque Rolls Waterloo, 8-2 in Saturday Night Clash

Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
The Dubuque Fighting Saints trounced the Waterloo Black Hawks, 8-2 on Saturday night to bounce back and split the weekend series. Dubuque used a four-goal first period and two goals from Riese Gaber to down Waterloo for the second time in as many tries at the Young Arena. With the win, Dubuque became the fourth team in the league to 20 wins.
-The 8-2 win for the Fighting Saints was their second six-goal win on the road in Waterloo this season. Prior to this year, Waterloo had never lost on home ice in the Tier-1 era by six goals. Dubuque has beaten them twice by that score now this season.
-Riese Gaber scored his 18th and 19th in the game and now leads the USHL in goal scoring. Gaber also added as assist in the game as he pushed his point total to 29 on the season. Mark Cheremeta also had three points for the Fighting Saints in the win.
-13 Fighting Saints tallied at least a point in the game. That mark is the most players with a point this season for Dubuque. The scoring came early and often as Dubuque spread the wealth in their win.
-Reggie Millette scored his first USHL goal in the win knocking a puck past Logan Stein early in the first period.
-Logan Stein, who came into the game with the top goals against and save percentage in the league, was chased from the game after just nine minutes. Dubuque scored three times on nine shots to knock the netminder out of the game.
-After Stein was pulled, Gabriel Carriere came in and was immediately greeted with a Ty Jackson penalty shot. Jackson scored on the penalty shot to open up the four-goal lead for the Fighting Saints and they would never look back.
-Waterloo created a good push in the second period, scoring twice to close the gap to just two. However, after Ryder Rolston hit a post, the Fighting Saints grabbed a late tally from Matthew Kopperud (his eighth point against Waterloo this season) to give them a three-goal lead heading in to the final period.
-Dubuque's power play was dynamic, and their penalty kill was even better. The Saints scored two power play goals in the game and killed off all four Black Hawks power plays. The biggest moment of the game came when Dubuque killed off a 1:40 of 5 on 3 time for Waterloo.
-Up next for the Saints, a date with the top team in the USHL as they face Chicago in a home and home.
