DUBUQUE, IA. - Northern Lights Hockey, LLC announced today that the Fighting Saints have hired Matt Strelo as the Team President of the new United States Hockey League team that will begin play this Fall at the new Mystique Ice Center. Strelo will be responsible for the day to day business operations of the Fighting Saints and along with Head Coach / General Manager, Jim Montgomery, will serve as the primary spokesperson for the team.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Matt Strelo as President of the Dubuque Fighting Saints." said Brad Kwong, Managing Partner of Northern Lights Hockey. "After conducting a thorough search process and speaking to a number of highly qualified candidates over the last few months, we were very impressed by Matt and felt that he possessed the background we were looking for in the person who we wanted to fill this important role for the Fighting Saints. He possesses a significant amount of senior level sports industry experience that will be invaluable as we build our organization and prepare for our inaugural season later this year".

"I have been impressed by the community's rich hockey tradition and the loyal fan support of the team's that have preceded us here in Dubuque. I have also been very impressed by the ownership group's commitment to building one of the premier organizations in the USHL and I look forward to leading the business side of the organization for years to come."

Strelo, 44, spent the last three years as the Director of Operations for Simmons Sports Media, Team 1380 and FOX Sports 1490 Radio in St. Louis, MO. Prior to that, Strelo held senior management positions with the NHL's St. Louis Blues, Gateway International Raceway, Las Vegas 51's / Mandalay Sports Entertainment and the International Hockey League. The California native began his career working for Major League Baseball's Oakland A's from 1982-1994.

Matt Strelo, his wife Audrea and sons Ben and Jackson will be relocating to Dubuque.
