Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Four unanswered goals by the Dubuque Fighting Saints gave the visitors a 4-1 victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena Saturday.
The Black Hawks started the scoring on the power play at 12:33 of the first period. Victor Newell's long shot went to the back of the net as goaltender Arthur Brey and Ryan Papa became entangled just outside the crease. Less than three minutes later, the Saints tied the game when Frank DiChiara cut behind the Waterloo goal and came out the other side to wrap a shot into the net.
Dubuque pulled ahead in the second. At 11:10, Niklas Nevalainen brought the puck across the blue line and benefitted from a fortunate bounce off of a defender, which sent the disk through the pads of Eamon McAdam. The Saints made it 3-1 38.8 seconds before intermission when Shane Sooth flipped a chance from the slot under the crossbar.
A faceoff play set up the only goal of the third during a Dubuque power play. Peter Quenneville batted a loose puck into the net at 4:52 after Sooth had jabbed the draw to the top of the crease.
Waterloo's crucial late-season homestand continues next weekend. The Black Hawks host the Tri-City Storm Friday and the Fargo Force Saturday. Tickets for both games are available online from waterlooblackhawks.com or by calling (319) 291-7680.
