February 11, 2020 - NBA G League (G League)
Grand Rapids Drive News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Drive (20-14) earned their third-straight win tonight after a tough back-and-forth battle against the visiting Westchester Knicks (16-19) with a final score of 117-105. The intensity was apparent from both teams all night, resulting in 20 lead changes and 14 ties, but the Drive turned up the intensity in the third quarter to jump out to a 10-point lead after being tied at half and maintained control through the rest of the game.
Pistons two-way players Jordan Bone and Louis King returned to the Drive roster after spending time with Detroit and both served up impressive performances. Jordan Bone earned a team-high 25 points, shooting 50% (8-16) from the field and 55% (5-9) from beyond the arc, to go along with 7 assists. Louis King followed up with a solid double-double, tallying 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Big man Donta Hall earned a second-straight double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in addition to 2 steals and 2 blocks. Other Drive players in double figures were Craig Sword (13 points & 5 assists), Todd Withers (12 points & 7 rebounds), Dakarai Allen (12 points, 4 assists & 2 steals) and Tre'Shawn Thurman (11 points & 2 steals).
New York assignee and former Wolverine Ignas Brazdeikis impressed the Michigan crowd, earning 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Tim Bond added a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. Other Knicks in double figures were Ivan Rabb (12 points, 8 rebounds & 2 blocks), Knicks two-way player Kadeem Allen (12 points, 7 assists & 4 steals), Tyler Hall (12 points & 3 steals) and former Wolverine Zak Irvin (12 points & 4 rebounds).
Comparably, the Drive and Knicks went head-to-head when it came to statistics across the board, but the Drive's ability to get into a fluid offense by earning 32 assists compared to just 22 for the Knicks allowed the home team to control the overall pace of the game.
The Drive will get ready for their next home game against the Canton Charge this Thursday, February 13th. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. local time. The Knicks will get a week's rest before they face off with the Raptors 905 in Mississauga on February 19th. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. local time.
