
Drillers sign players, release veteran

BEAUMONT, TX -- The Beaumont Drillers signed two offensive linemen, a defensive back and released a veteran player on May 7.
Veteran offensive linemen Mike Henry was released by the team and the Drillers signed linemen Cody LeBlanc and Cliff Woodruff. LeBlanc, a 6-5, 305-pound native of Lumberton, was a Division-1AA All-American last year for McNeese State. Woodruff, 6-7, 295-pounds, started 26 games the last two years for Ole Miss in SEC Conference at guard and started all 13 games in 2003 during the Eli Manning-era.
The Drillers also signed defensive back Tyrone Henry (6-2, 250). Henry was released by the Southwest Louisiana Swashbucklers on May 6, after leading the team in interceptions (4) and was third on the team in tackles with 24.5.
The Drillers (4-3) will face the Swashbucklers (5-2) on May 9 at Ford Arena with kickoff time set for 7:05 p.m. for Monday Night Football. All tickets are just $3 for the battle for first place on Interstate-10. Both teams are only separated by a 45-minute drive.
