Beaumont Drillers News Release
BEAUMONT, TX - The weather was gloomy in Southeast Texas on Monday, July 3, but the NIFL gave the Beaumont Drillers some news to make all the rain clouds go away.
Already a lock for the playoffs, the NIFL decided to allow Beaumont a home playoff game hosting the Katy Copperheads on Saturday, July 8 at 7:05 p.m. inside Ford Arena. The Drillers were originally scheduled to play their first playoff game on the road.
The NIFL also awarded the Beaumont Drillers a Pacific South Division Championship. Katy had a better overall record, 11-3 compared to 8-6, but both teams were tied at 6-1 in the division standings. Beaumont and Katy played three games, but the third game was not counted as a division game.
With that in mind, Beaumont wins the tie-breaker over Katy with +3 points, head-to-head. Katy defeated Beaumont in the first meeting 48-40 but Beaumont returned the favor weeks later defeating their rivals 53-42.
The Beaumont Drillers are the NIFL Pacific South Champions and will host Katy this Saturday night.
Ticket information will be released on Wednesday afternoon.
