Drillers post first victory

It was a history making night for the Calgary Drillers in New Jersey. The road weary Drillers won their first ever game in the American Basketball Association upsetting the New Jersey SkyCats 91-85. It was the Drillers third game in as many nights on a road trip that took them to Dallas, Texas on Thursday night and Harlem, New York on Friday. The Drillers and SkyCats hook up for an afternoon encounter on Sunday before Calgary heads to Portland, Oregon to wind up their five game road swing. After Christmas in Calgary the Drillers go back on the road for three more games before playing their home opener in Calgary on Sunday, January 2 nd .

Former Boston Celtic Nate Driggers led the Calgary attack on Saturday night. The 6'6" forward from Montivello scored 17 points with six boards. Damian Owens, Calgary's 6'6" forward from West Virginia chipped in with 15 points and led both teams with 9 rebounds. Calgary led 50-42 at the half.

Drillers tickets will go on sale in Calgary on Dec. 27 th through Ticketmaster. The Drillers play 11 games at home during the month of January.

General Manager Ruby Richman is now negotiating with a former Toronto Raptors star to join the club after Christmas.
