Drillers games to air on The Buzz

The Tulsa Drillers and Clear Channel Radio announced today that the Drillers 2006 radio broadcasts will again be heard live on KTBZ AM 1430, The Buzz. It will mark the second straight year that the Drillers games will air on The Buzz, and the 21st consecutive year that the Drillers and Clear Channel have partnered on the game broadcasts.
The Drillers also announced that Mark Neely would be returning as the play-by-play voice of the Drillers for the 2006 season.
"We are very pleased to continue our long-term relationship with the Clear Channel family," said Drillers Executive Vice President Chuck Lamson. "We are especially excited to be returning our broadcasts to the strong signal of AM 1430. Fans in Tulsa know they can turn to âThe Buzz' for all the Drillers games and news as well as other sports in Tulsa."
The Buzz is a 24-hour sports station that features Jim Rome and Fox Sports Radio. In addition to the Drillers, AM 1430 also broadcasts OSU football and basketball, ORU basketball, NASCAR and Jenks high school football.
All 140 Drillers games will be aired live. Due to scheduling conflicts with the Rome Show, weekday afternoon games will be moved to KAKC, AM 1300.
For Neely, the 2006 season will mark his 11th year as the radio voice of the Drillers. He is a two-time winner of the Tulsa Sportscaster of the Year Award, and he has done several Major League Baseball telecasts for the ESPN networks. In the winter, he is the radio voice for Oral Roberts University basketball.
"We are fortunate to have Mark Neely," said Lamson. "He does a great job of bringing the excitement of Drillers Baseball to the listener, and he adds a major league quality to our game broadcasts."
The Drillers are scheduled to begin the 2006 Texas League season on Thursday, April 6 by hosting the Wichita Wranglers at Drillers Stadium.
