Dre Fortune and Trinidad and Tobago Advance to 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Group Stage

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 FC midfielder Dre Fortune will be unavailable for selection with the club for at least the next two weeks after advancing to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Group Stage with Trinidad and Tobago.

Building on his five previous caps with the Caribbean nation, Fortune saw the pitch for 11 minutes in a 6-1 dismantling of Montserrat in the first round of Gold Cup Qualifying on July 2. In the second round of qualifiers, the Soca Warriors eked out a 1-1 (8-7) victory on penalties over French Guiana in a match that featured Fortune playing 68 minutes and converting from the spot in the shootout on July 6.

Trinidad and Tobago will join Group A as they travel from Miami to Dallas ahead of its first group stage match against Concacaf-heavyweight Mexico on Saturday, July 10 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (9 p.m. CT, FS1/Univision/TUDN). On the following Wednesday, Trinidad and Tobago will face El Salvador at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on July 14 (6:30 p.m. CT, FS1/UniMás/TUDN). Wrapping up group stage action, Fortune and the Soca Warriors will take on Curaçao at Toyota Stadium on July 18 (9 p.m. CT, FS2/Galavisión).

Should Trinidad and Tobago finish first or second in Group A, the squad will travel to Glendale, Ariz. to face either the runner-up or winner of Group D in the quarterfinals on July 24. Gold Cup semifinal matches will be held in either Austin or Houston, Texas on July 29 and the Gold Cup Final will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nev. on August 1.
