Dayton, OH - The House Subcommittee on Domestic Policy, Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has invited Dayton Dragons Team President, Robert Murphy, to testify at a hearing in Washington, D.C., this Thursday, March 29, 2007.

Participating in the hearing will be Congressman Mike Turner (R), Dayton's Congressman (District 3). Murphy and Turner worked together in 1999 and 2000 - when Turner was the Mayor of the City of Dayton - during the baseball approval and the stadium construction process.

Murphy is to testify in front of Congress to tell the City of Dayton and Dayton Dragons success story in regard to the downtown stadium (Fifth Third Field) that was built during 1999-2000. The Dayton Dragons are owned and operated by Mandalay Sports Entertainment.

"I am very pleased and honored to accept the committee's invitation and look forward to participating at this hearing," noted Dragons president Robert Murphy. "There is a great story to tell about minor league baseball and the City of Dayton; and what we all have accomplished here over the past eight years has demonstrated a positive impact that a professional sports team and stadium can have on a community."

Murphy has been the Dragons president since the inception of the team in 1999. Robert has been in sports management since 1995, and under his leadership, the Dragons organization has set numerous milestones including the sellout of all stadium seats before the first pitch every season since inception; the setting of the all-time Single-A and Midwest League attendance records; a 496-game consecutive sellout streak; and welcoming the four millionth fan during just the Dragons' seventh season in 2006.

Bob received his undergraduate degree in communications and media arts from Buffalo State College, and received his MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Additional accomplishments include:

Named the Midwest League Executive of the Year in 2000.

Named to Dayton Business Journal's top "40 Under 40" in Business in 2000.

In 2005 the longstanding national sports publication The Sporting News named Murphy the Minor League Baseball Executive of the Year.
