Dragons Garrett Named MWL Pitcher of the Week

DAYTON, OHIO-Dayton Dragons left-handed starting pitcher Amir Garrett has been selected as the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 11-17.

Garrett made one appearance during the week, tossing a complete game shutout in the second game of a doubleheader (seven-inning game) on Wednesday, August 13 at the Lake County Captains.

Garrett struck out a career-high 12 Captains batters in the game, allowing only three hits and one walk in a 6-0 Dragons victory.

Over his last 14 starts beginning May 30, Garrett is 7-2 with a 1.85 earned run average and has limited opposing batters to a combined .170 batting average (46 for 270).

Garrett has not allowed a run over his last three starts covering 17 innings, surrendering just seven hits with 21 strikeouts.
