Nashville SC News Release

TAMPA - After a four-point week that included the defense giving up just one goal in two games, Nashville SC defender Liam Doyle was named to the United Soccer League (USL) Team of the Week for the second time this season. Doyle is the first SC player with multiple honors in the club's inaugural season.

Doyle played all 180 minutes last week as Nashville picked up four crucial points in its chase for a playoff spot. In the 2-0 win against Atlanta United 2, Doyle was critical to the clean sheet, making seven clearances and contributing two blocks. What didn't show up in the stat sheet was Doyle altering two breakaway chances from ATL UTD 2, which both missed the target.

In Nashville's 1-1 draw later in the week against New York Red Bulls II, Doyle again was strong defensively, while also chipping in offensively. He made a whopping 15 clearances, six more than any other player on either team. Doyle also added his second assist of the season when he tapped a free kick to Michael Reed who blasted in the equalizing goal.

Overall in SC's inaugural season, Doyle has been a stalwart on the backline, compiling 2,512 minutes in 29 appearances. The minutes are the most of any outfield player (non-keeper) on Nashville's roster. His 191 clearances are the most on the team and second-most in the entirety of the USL to Forrest Lasso, an FC Cincinnati center back, who has 209.

Doyle and the rest of Nashville SC will be on the road for the final time this season when the team plays the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on MyTV30.
